Amazing what spending £700m can produce eh? Very Happy

But I don't begrudge them, City supporters are (mostly) proper fans, who have suffered for their cause like us over the years, especially given their comparative struggles vs the success of their noisy neighbours during the Ferguson years.

I imagine most fans still have to pinch themselves when they see games like yesterday. Very Happy

I hope City go on to win the Premier League in style, because on their showing thus far they will deserve it Very Happy

Gawd we can only dream of such times Shocked

Oh I remember that well, when the 7th went in I was sat with a face like a smacked arse.
Why, cos I had backed us to win 6 nill. People around me couldn't understand why I wasn't applauding till I showed my betting slip.

Back in the mists, the only 7 summat scoreline I saw at Roker was when we put seven past Luton one season. Also saw seven against Arsenal and nine against Charlton, all in the heady days of the mid-fifties when football had a level financial playing field.  In the Luton game though the crowd was chanting "we want eight" to match the 8-3 drubbing that had given us season or so before.

Off to dubbin my boots now.

Was home for that game followed by the unexpected win against Arsenal in the cup the following week and that started the huge wave that took us up the league and almost to the FA cup. The belief in the team and the support in the latter half of that season was humungus.

I don't recall either of these games to be honest but I was no doubt there because by this time I had developed the bug.

What I do recall about this era was the number of local lads in the squad including Jimmy Davison who was in the year above me at Bede School.

It was quite surreal seeing him playing alongside some of my favourite players of all time - Hurley, Anderson and the wonderful yet unassuming Ian Lawther - yet only a year or so previous I probably saw him  every day at school.

For those who can remember he had this unusual hair style that looked like a flat cap on top hence his school nickname of  'Capper' Davison.

I am happy about that result but there’s always a downside.  I went to the pub at 11am and was half cut by the time I got in the ground.  Those bloody goals in conjunction with my hip flask just about tipped me over.  I still managed to stay out until midnight though hehe

Having said that it wasn’t so many years ago that I KNEW City would never win a trophy again.  The only focus those days was fighting relegation or trying for promotion. Am I enjoying how Lady Luck has shone on us, yes of course but I honestly still got a buzz in the 1st div.  We managed to get out of the 1st div at Wembley when City scored two in injury time that then took us into extra time,  that has just as good memories to me as when we won the Prem in the last seconds.  Odd but true.

As H suggested, many of us are still pinching ourselves and I hope that feeling never goes away.

City, PSG and in some respects Chelsea were taken over prior to FFP coming in,  we are now self funding so it’s of little concern nowadays, that said it still really annoys me.  FFP was supposedly brought in the stop people buying clubs with insufficient funds and the club eventually going bust ie Portsmouth and/or to stop arseholes accent stripping (Shortt??)
I fear that decent prospective owners of clubs will no longer risk properly investing in clubs as to do so they would have to pay off debts etc and inevitably trade at a loss for a few years albeit it’s their own money they’ve invested.  Uefa and the old guard teams still hate the fact that an upstart can upset the Apple cart but F..k them.

Sorry for boring you all,  hope you manage to get rid of your bent owner and get a very kind Shiekh one day.  Rant over. farao

Any team that Jesus plays for HAS to be good  Very Happy

Seriously though, can you believe what an all-round player De Bruyne is? And a humble man too!

Well we’ve only just moved Jesus Navas on this summer.  Keeping my fingers crossed that God shines on the righteous Very Happy

It’s nice to see that De Bruyne is getting some national recognition.  Imagine if he was playing for Manure!  Oddly enough David Silva’s stats are pretty similar but he just falls under the radar.

Probably back down to earth tomorrow.  We’ve got Napoli What a Face

Did David Silva fall in front of a striker? That's a hell of a haircut
