A positive head in negative times

Post  cyprussyd on 2017-09-28, 10:30 am

Yes being positive in any way is hard these days with a team doing all it can to be negative and looking ahead relegation seems a certainty but we cant look at it that way.

Being a Sunderland fan means that hope is the word we use a lot but the choice for me is simple, look at the recent past in a realistic way and throw in the towel of look at the recent past and hope the players and manager improve and get us out of the mess they have managed to get us into.

I honestly believe that if we can get McGready, Mcmanaman and Williams playing we can create chances and get Grabban.Maja and Watmore back we can score goals, not prolific but enough to grind out results.

Cattermole and N'Dong started the season looking strong and we need them back on that form and we should have enough in the remaining midfielders to add some creativity.

Defense is the surprising week link when we all thought it was a striker but why? We have the players with Jones and Oviedo at full back and Mathews who can cover both. Browning and Kone should be good enough in this league but right now our defense is playing like a group of kids who have never met.

The manager will either stay or go, we have no control over that at all but surely this week will have been about getting back to basics and focusing on one thing, not losing at Preston and yes we need wins but right now not losing and letting in a shed load of goals is vital.

Yes its all if's and but's and yes you can easily point out the counter argument but I am nowhere near throwing in the towel so will stick to my realism and hope it gets better.

Whatever Saturday brings we have the international break then QPR to play at the Stadium of Light, I doubt many will be many of us there but I hope those that do go cut any booing and just do all we can to back the team, whoever is in it.

Before I answer my own question, How would you rate their fitness?

For a team that train hard it seems poor

like

My thought exactly.

I'll not question the technical side or commitment just the obvious fitness as they always run out of steam.
