Going back to the Bain interview

Post  vinkel on 2017-09-22, 9:40 am

“We’ve brought in £30million for Jordan Pickford, but that is needed for the running of the club.

Does that mean without the Jordan sale we were gone.

I'd imagine it means they would have made cuts elsewhere. Maybe reduced the wage bill even further.

What gets me is teams like Southampton and Stoke (no disrespect  ) not only survive in the prem but prosper on much smaller gates.

Our downfall, IMO can be traced back to one madf summer when De Fanti brought in a raft of players, Margaret Byrne then handed them ridiculous wages and long contracts.

We then had a wage bill of players we had plus a wage bill and outstanding fees on players no longer with us.

Add in..

Fletcher, bought for big money return none
Johnson, bought for big money return none
Rodwell, bought for big money potential return half a crown

The list goes on and on.

Your being a bit generous on the rodders deal. Worth 2 Curly Wurly's and half a pund of tomatoes at most.

I really don't think gate recipes are relevant
The money now comes from other areas.
If Bournemouth can survive on 10000

Another lie mate we got £25 mil for Pickford the rest are add ons which we won't see until the earliest next season, or maybe yet another mystical £10mil that was put aside last year which seems to have been spirited away.

Most years our net spend was not more than about £20m ..

Not a lot in premieship terms...

Big money ?

Rodwell £10m ?

Johnson £10m ?

It's not big money.

I suppose paying £6m per year to a Short Finance company is not big money either.

Cool
