Oh Fabio

AC Milan were battered 4-1 by Lazio in Serie A and ex-Sunderland striker Fabio Borini suffered the brunt of the criticism.

In the battle of the former Liverpool flops, Luis Alberto comfortably came out on top as Fabio Borini and AC Milan were left choking on Lazio’s dust at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.
Alberto scored the fourth after a clinical Ciro Immobile hat-trick as Simone Inzaghi’s side battered the Milanese giants 4-1 in the capital, proving beyond all doubt that you cannot immediately revive a fallen giant by throwing money at the problem.
And while Leonardo Bonucci looked far from his Juve peak, Riccardo Montolivo and Davide Calabria had evenings to forget, the complete anonymity of Borini’s performance on the left wing still did not ensure he went unnoticed as the autopsy began in earnest on social media.
Anyone who watched Sunderland in the last couple of seasons would have wondered what Milan saw in the former Chelsea and Swansea City forward who, for all his hard-work, isn’t exactly renowned for his end product.

Borini scored just two goals in 24 Premier League appearances last season, failing to stand out in a dismal Sunderland side that finished bottom of the table.
And it’s fair to say the 26-year-old has done little in his first few weeks as a Milan player to prove that he warrants a place on the frontline of one of Europe’s most exciting footballing projects.
Therefore, few Celtic fans will be rueing their failure to land Borini this summer. The Chronicle reported in May that Celtic were willing to pay £6 million for a player manager Brendan Rodgers worked with at Liverpool, Swansea and during his time in charge of Chelsea's reserves.

That fee would make Borini Celtic's most expensive signing since John Hartson and Chris Sutton arrived in Glasgow 17 years ago. They are bonafide Bhoys legends and, on the basis of Borini's first few weeks as a Milan player, he certainly isn't anywhere near the same level.

Still got more quality than what we had last night. Grabban has quality but lost interest already, Vaughan has the endeavour but no quality.
