Sunderland v Sheffield United Match day thread

Post  cyprussyd on Mon Sep 04, 2017 7:07 am

A very big game for morale and confidence.
No idea what the team will be but a good performance and win would be great

With Mcgready a doubt and Khazri gone who goes on the wing?

Well it's here, the smell of the greasepaint, sound of the band. Sorry that's opening night, try again.

Well it's here, the smell of the burger bar the sound of Dance of the Knights, it's match day again.

Despite everything that has happened I still look forward to match day with the same excitement and today I have two extra reasons, 1 its first day back at school after that dam International break and 2 we have new players.

Win lose or draw there are things to observe and discuss, what team will start, what formation, what will Grayson do if it's not working, how will the team react to going a goal down.

And even more importantly, who will lesmack argue with today, will he be unfaithful to mackemneil with his new found love for sunderpit and will vince be sober.

Wining is not everything but it sure would be good if we do and we will.

Need a win today mate and a couple of goals or that will be three games no points and no goals.
With Grayson saying we didn't really need a striker in the window that could come back to bite him on the arse with some of our lot.

talc posted earlier what I deem to be a very eloquent calm answer. Heres mine below.

We were f*cking garbage. We were worse than our 3rd division days and I mean that 100%.  There was f*ck all from the manager, f*ck all from the players it was f*cking dire. Anybody who says KTF will get a hook to the ribs if I ever meet them.

Today I actually walked when they scored their 2nd. This from a bloke who has actually fought other people walking out early.

I pay for my season tkt and I attend the matches and that is my commitment. I want something in return.

You'd better not hook Syd in the ribs, he has hardly any meat covering them now and I can guarantee he will say KTF  Laughing

The word that sticks out is dire and we were.
I was confused and concerned when I saw the team and I am still confused. TBH I cant lay the blame at the players or the manager, we spent just over 1 mil on ten players and that tells you that the players we bought are not top draw. We made our usual start full of promise and hope.

They break away and score and we go to pot but there is hope because all we have is hope. Yes I will keep the faith because again it's all I have. That said it gets harder ever week but I will be on the bus on Tuesday to watch our next easy game against Notts Forest.

Grayson has is work cut out.

I didn't walk out but I can't blame anyone who did.
I am there on Tuesday but many won't be and again I can't blame them.

I think you all know that I can only do positive but I don't do anger, used to but life takes over and football becomes less important.

So for me it's enjoy the good bits, the people I meet and move on from the bad bits, the team.

The bad bits are getting more frequent though mate and that in itself will drive people away. Our outlay on players as most thought was not enough. The calibre of those brought in was not good enough for this league never mind our club.
Grayson has 4 games to pull it round for me anyway but, after the last 3 defeats 2 of which were at home he IMO is on borrowed time. Hope I'm wrong and we turn it around won't be holding my breath on that but, as you say syd we can but hope.

Weird weird weird team selection. What was going on with that? I may be out of th  loop but no Cattermole (can't believe I'm saying that), Oviedio and what the hell has Rodwell done to put himself in th  team?

Kone coming off? Has he thrown the dummy out?

I almost hate watching us now. As Grayson said it was Groundhog day. I knew before they scored what would happen.

Then, no urgency to fight back and put things right. Where is the desire to play for Sunderland that grayson's been on about? I had  free tickets today and I still feel cheated.

Positives, Johnny Williams. Thanyou for brightening my day and NDong made a bit o  effort too.

Catts has a slight knock. I think Kone either bottled it or the long flight home from the internationals caught up with him.

Totally agree on the new guy and N'dong.

This must be put right on Tuesday with Grayson picking a team, formation and going with it.

I still think with Watmore, McNair, McGeady in the team we can more than hold our own in this league. I think we will start seeing the benefit come Xmas time. All the new players will have developed an understanding and we will move up that table.

Still fuming about yesterday tho.

Trying to be honest but light hearted about the plight we are in.

I am beyond anger it's more resignation about the future of the club. Chickens are firmly coming home to roost and our owner is driving us down through the league's.

I may not be able to make Tuesdays game and that may be a blessing in disguise as another inept display and that could be my lot. The misery will outweigh the pleasure of 'going to the matvh'
