There's this kicking around also.

Wahbi Khazri is between Toulouse & Rennes

Sunderland’s attacking midfielder Wahbi Khazri is between a loan move to Toulouse and Rennes, according to L’Équipe.
Rennes confirmed to the newspaper last night that they were confident of landing the former Bordeaux man, whilst Toulouse, who have been interested for several weeks, is the favoured destination of a large proportion of Khazri’s entourage.
As of late last night, the player had yet to make a final decision.

What seems clear is the newspapers don't know

I know he wants away but in terms of benefiting the club this deal makes no sense. We will still be paying a chink of his wages and we will not get a player in anywhere near as good as him with the remainder. He needs to be sold or kept. A loan is just stupidity.

Wahbi Khazri on the verge of his Sunderland exit as the Tunisian is pictured arriving in France

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Wahbi Khazri has made no secret of his desire to leave Sunderland before the transfer window closes, originally expressing his desire to leave shortly after the Premier League season and then again just last week - the latter causing enough uproar for the midfielder to make an apology for sorts on Instagram - but it now looks like he will get his wish after he was pictured arriving at Rennes-Saint-Jacques airport ahead of a medical with Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Stade Rennais recently received a huge windfall thanks to their sell-on clause in Ousmane Dembele’s contract, which netted them around €25m. Despite that windfall it looks as if Sunderland were unable to persuade the French club to part with a fee to sign Khazri permanently as the Tunisian is set to sign on a season-long loan deal.
West Ham United’s Diafra Sakho was also pictured at the same airport, ahead of a €9m move, which further highlights more poor transfer business from decision makers at Sunderland.
Either giving Khazri, Jeremain Lens and Fabio Borini excessive contracts which makes shifting them harder or by giving in too easily to the buying clubs and accepting loan deals which benefit the player and the buying club more than Sunderland.
Toulouse are still thought to be in the running for Khazri despite his impending medical but it looks certain that he will depart for Ligue 1 before 11pm tomorrow night. We can only hope that any money we save by getting the Tunisian off the books helps Simon Grayson belatedly land some attacking reinforcements.

There's going to be very little money left from his wages as we're paying most of them. Stupid deal for us.

This case just about sums up transfer dealings.  Rennes get a massive cut of a fee for their ex-player bought by an elite club buying him, but won't waste it on an average player who we are glad to be rid of because of attitude and limited ability.

Domino effect from the Neymar move and nothing else.

Khazri passed his medical. We probably paid for that too and his bus fare to France.

So he's gone.

But how does this sale free up £10m for Rhodes ?

I doubt the club intended to buy anyone of any significance.

Loans are the order of the day which of course means that in 12 months they go bye bye.... and we start again..
