La Vuelta a Espana

Post  Hieronymus on 2017-08-23, 11:44 pm

Anyone who watched the Vuelta today might have noticed the pretty little town they ended up in.  That was Alcossebre, where we have our holiday apartment! We know those hills and roads around from Benicassim to Alcala de Xivert and down to Alcossebre very well.

The final climb up the hill to the Ermita de Santa Lucia is so steep that one part has a 20% gradient and needs 1st gear in a car never mind on a bike!! Just after that steepest part of the climb, there is an excellent restaurant called El Pinar, with absolutely stunning views to go with their fabulous food.

That is a photo I took a couple of years ago, from the Ermita at the top of the hill, just about where they had the Stage Finish line today.  I zoomed in looking down on our part of town, towards the marina area. You can see our apartment building top and a bit right of centre just before the clump of trees, with a black car parked out front.

Is your apartment just across from your mooring or do you walk straight to it off your terraza scratch

I have no idea what you are talking about, is LA VUELTA DE ESPANA like a Spanish Emmerdale?

Haha! Our apartment is about a 2 minute walk from the Marina. We did think about getting a little boat actually but the amount of time we spend out there these days it would do what 99% of the other boats in any marina I have ever seen, just sit there growing barnacles!
