Carlisle United v Sunderland AFC Matchday Thread

Post  cyprussyd on 2017-08-20, 9:17 am

Carlisle United v Sunderland AFC
Tue 22 Aug KO 19:45
Brunton Park
Carabao Cup

An important game for us because it gives us the chance to rest some tired players, see some others and get back hopefully to winning ways.

We all knew before we started that the championship schedule is a relentless one made all the harder when you play some big teams and two of those games were away from home.

Fortunately this game is local, a quick drive along the A69 and a game that even with changes we should win.

My stab at the team..

RUITER
MATHEWS  KONE  OSHEA  OVIEDO
HONEYMAN  GIBSON  RODWELL  KHAZRI
GRABBAN  ASORO

They had a good win yesterday and we were rubbish ( I dont think Leeds were that good?)

Got to be some changes. Leave Vaughan in as he needs a goal but stick the Dutch goalie in. Hopefully Watmore n a couple of others will get some game time.

Injury Update
Costa Rica international Bryan Oviedo will play in tomorrow’s game away at Carlisle United in the Carabao Cup - welcome news to those of us that watched Brendan Galloway’s performance against Leeds United on Saturday.
Oviedo missed out on the entirety of our pre-season campaign through a leg injury sustained whilst on international duty with Costa Rica this summer, and since returning to full training he has just an hour of football under his belt having played for our U23s against Tottenham Hotspur last week.

Skysports News will show instant goal highlights from tonight’s Carabao Cup games as part of their Gillette Soccer Special show, whilst BBC Newcastle (95.4FM) will provide their usual coverage as Nick Barnes and Gary Bennett take you through all of the action from Brunton Park following their Totalsport show at 7pm. If you’re outside of the North East, the radio commentary is unfortunately behind an SAFC.com paywall as you’ll have to stream it online.

It will be interesting to see how the young slight lad upfront fairs.

Of course can Dilabodgy put in a performance, whilst it was not a huge fee for him last season he was disappointing

Keeper looked okay and good pen  save...we were slow to react to stop Carlisle getting the rebound.

Echo has Dillabodgy at 4...pity we cannot offload him and Roswell  (Good name that) who is once again Mia, sick apparently  Cool
