Early days but !!!!

Post  cyprussyd on 2017-08-11, 9:24 am

One league and one cup game are far to early to get excited or indeed gloom, what our season has in store will become clearer around Christmas.

But I think we can make some assumptions that tell me we are heading in the right direction.

  • Last seasons Sunderland would have lost the Derby game.
  • Last seasons Sunderland could well have lost the Bury game.
  • Honeyman can be a star for us this season.
  • We still need a goal scorer, Maja could be one but we need at least one more.
  • We need Oviado back but Galloway given a chance will improve.
  • We need at least one more centre back, 2 if Kone goes.
  • Grayson is the right man for the job right now and needs backing.

Sunday will prove a true test for us, first away game in the Championship against a good Norwich side, we will be the underdogs by a mile but it's a game the manager and players wont want to lose, momentum and confidence is growing, avoid defeat and it will continue to grow.

I thought last night we were solid at the back.
Most crosses from Bury were met by a Sunderland head.

We are missing something up front.
Hopefully Grayson will be banging the drum behind the scenes. I noticed Bain was there last night.
Was he negotiating for another Bury player ?

Lee Clark when interviewed before the game said he enjoyed his time at Sunderland.

Bury games always remind me of the demise of Cloughie who sustained his knee injury challenging the goalkeeper.

We can only hope that the McCormack and Hugil rumours are true and that Maja is back soon
