Sunderland could complete the signing of Robbin Ruiter in the summer transfer window, suggests manager Simon Grayson.

Sunderland manager Simon Grayson has suggested to The Chronicle that Robbin Ruiter could sign a contract with the club.
As reported by The Chronicle, the 30-year-old had been on trial with the Championship club following his departure from Dutch side FC Utrecht.
The Dutch goalkeeper played well against Bradford City and Scunthorpe United in pre-season friendly matches, and although he is now back in the Netherlands, Grayson is confident that he will sign a contract as a free agent.
“He was always going back to Holland, he had some issues to sort out over there, but we are talking to his agent and hopefully we might be able to conclude a deal,” Grayson told The Chronicle about Ruiter.
Sunderland will kick off their 2017-18 Championship campaign with a home match against Derby County on Friday evening.
The Black Cats will head into the match against the Rams at the Stadium of Light on the back of a 5-0 hammering by Scottish Premiership giants Celtic at home in a pre-season friendly game.
Sunderland got relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season, but they will be one of the favourites to finish in the top six of the Championship this term.

Grayson has signed Aiden McGeady, James Vaughan and Brendan Galloway (loan from Everton) among other players so far in the summer transfer window.

Sunderland: New goalkeeper on the way

SUNDERLAND boss Simon Grayson is set to land his second goalkeeper of the summer, with Robbin Ruiter due to sign a two-year deal.
The Dutchman, who has been on trial in pre-season, has agreed terms on a deal and he will be back on Wearside for the transfer formalities today.
Ruiter left FC Utrecht at the end of last season and appeared twice for the Black Cats in pre-season, impressing against both Bradford City and Scunthorpe United.
Following the departure of Vito Mannone to Reading, Grayson has signed Jason Steele from Blackburn for £500,000.
And the Black Cats appear to have beaten Burnley to landing Ruiter, who should be available for Friday’s Championship opener at the Stadium of Light against Derby on Friday evening.
It remains to be seen if midfielder Darron Gibson is available on Friday, with the club launching an investigation after the midfielder was captured on video on Saturday evening criticising his teammates.

Sunderland have edged closer to signing Dutch goalkeeper Robbin Ruiter, according to reports.
The 30-year-old is a free agent after leaving Utrecht at the end of last season and has been on trial with the Black Cats.
According to Sky Sports News, Ruiter will fly back into the North East on Wednesday to undergo a medical prior to penning a two-year deal.
The report also suggests that the deal is expected to be completed in time for Friday night's Championship season opener against Derby County.
Ruiter reportedly attracted interest from other British clubs this summer, including Burnley.
