I'm very happy with that and indeed the other reported deals coming up.

Mccready won rave reviews at Preston last season, no longer good enough for the Premiership but then again, neither are we.

Also happy with loan signings, we have little money so must get what we can from were we can.

Glass three quarters full

There's plenty of games in the championship and with watmore's injury it makes sense to have cover for him.

Sunderland look set to sign Aiden McGeady from Everton. Today we sat down with Calvin from royalbluemersey.sbnation.com to chat about what we can expect from the Irish winger.

Ruddy, Steady, Go?

Bookies Bet Victor now make SAFC 1/4 odds on favourites to sign goalkeeper John Ruddy.
The one-cap England international is a free agent this summer after leaving Norwich City.
Sunderland are in need of a new goalkeeper after Jordan Pickford's £30m departure to Everton, while Vito Mannone's future is uncertain.

Sunderland in for Robert Snodgrass?

According to reports in the national press this morning, Sunderland boss Simon Grayson is keen on a reunion with Robert Snodgrass.

The pair worked together at Leeds United but the £8million price tag will prove a huge stumbling block.

It would be a major coup if Sunderland were to make a move and land Snodgrass but Brighton & Hove Albion are also understood to be in the running and the Premier League side would be the frontrunners to land him.

Grayson and Snodgrass have worked together previously, though, so that would be an advantage for the Black Cats.

It would be an ambitious move by Sunderland but we understand the bulk of the transfer budget will be set aside for signing strikers with Sunderland without a senior striker.

Why is it taking so long to land these other two from Everton? Is it legal matters? Is an agent only getting 1%? Do they have doubts about us?

Got the first lad in in about 3 nano seconds and this seems to be dragging on.

Don't understand the 'emergency' tag! Normally an emergency transfer is mid season outside of transfer windows when all other keepers are injured. Sad news about Ikeme though!

Sunderland’s move for Everton winger Aiden McGeady is being held up by a contractual issue on Merseyside.
The Black Cats have agreed a fee with the Toffeemen for the 31-year-old Republic of Ireland international, and settled personal terms with the player, but the deal cannot yet be completed.
There have been reports of a stand-off and Chroniclelive understands that the issue is between player and his current club, rather than with Sunderland.

Everton's Aiden McGeady is close to becoming Sunderland's first buy of the summer but must first resolve an outstanding issue with the Merseysiders

And the Black Cats are understood to be on the verge of confirming the arrival of Galloway’s Everton teammate Ty Browning, also on a season-long loan.

That deal is believed to be signed and sealed, and official confirmation could come in the next 24 hours.

Galloway and Browning can both play in central defence, with the former also able to play left-back and the latter at right-back.

Sunderland could make Leeds United fans jealous, if they complete double-swoop
Sunderland could make Leeds United fans very jealous this summer, if Simon Grayson is able to bring two of his top targets to the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland were said by the Telegraph to be interested in West Ham United winger Robert Snodgrass yesterday.
And HITC exclusively broke the news that Max Gradel is the latest name to join Grayson’s transfer wishlist.
Grayson worked with both Gradel and Snodgrass at Leeds, earlier in their respective careers.
And Leeds fans, themselves, have been hoping to see Gradel and Snodgrass back at Elland Road for some time.
However, it appears that Sunderland are more likely buyers for the pair this summer.
Sunderland are keen to improve their attacking options, as they go for promotion.
And if the Black Cats are able to complete the double-swoop for the ex-Leeds pair, they may well see some enviable glances in their direction from supporters of the Whites.

Burnley have made an enquiry for Sunderland centre-back Lamine Kone.
The 28-year-old Ivory Coast international is available as he wants to play in the top flight and manager Simon Grayson will sell to help boost his transfer funds.
Kone had interest from Everton, Crystal Palace, West Ham and West Bromwich Albion last year before signing a new contract worth around £60,000 a week.
