New name in manager stakes

Post  cyprussyd on 2017-06-19, 11:12 am

German manager enters betting

There was a surprise addition to the Sunderland manager betting odds at the weekend - German coach Jens Keller.
He's now 20/1 with SkyBet.
The Echo believes there is very little in this link at present, but just who is Keller?
See our factfile below

Jens Keller factfile

  • He's 46 years old and is a former defender with the likes of Stuttgart, Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt

  • He was appointed Schalke manager in 2012, promoted from being U17s boss

  • Keller guided the Gelsenkirchen side to fourth place by the end of the 2012-13 campaign, securing a spot in the UEFA Champions League

  • He went one better in the previous campaign as Schalke finished third in the Bundesliga, again qualifying for the Champions League

  • He was sacked after a poor start to the 2014-15 season and replaced by Roberto Di Matteo

  • After 18 months out, he took over as manager of Union Berlin

  • Keller led them to fourth spot in Bundisliga 2, missing out on promotion after losing 3 of their last 4 games

  • He was linked with the vacant Norwich post last month

These reporters are a joke, there is probably more truth in it than any of the other usual suspects.
German consortium leading the bidding war no manager in place until after the takeover.
So it will be the German consortium who will put a manager of there choice in place.
Let me throw in another name Jurgen Klinsman why not?

We need to get a manager in asap before we sell off players....the manager needs to say who HE wants to keep and who HE wants to sell rather than Short and Bain selling for the sake of it (or Moyes recommendations)....the more players we sell, the more players we need to buy/bring in,the more money the new consortium needs to turn the club around

What's he done in terms of management?

Presumably being punted around because of a connection with Tony Adams.

It will be interesting to see what sort of manager we'll be going for if we get taken over and will anyone from Bain's list be on it.
