It's not his decision to make he is on a five year contract,it is whether Short decides to take the money

Surely it his decision. If he says he's staying thats it. He's got 4 yrs left on that contract.

Everton are close to agreeing a deal worth £30 million for Sunderland's England under-21 international Jordan Pickford.
Negotiations have progressed between the two clubs over the past 24 hours and Everton are growing increasingly confident of signing the highly-regarded goalkeeper this month.
Sunderland rejected an initial bid from the Merseysiders last month but sources in the north-east have admitted that talks are now reaching a conclusion, with Pickford expected to undergo a medical when he returns from international duty.

No wonder we are a joke

Post  mackem72 on 2017-06-13, 10:48 am

Its no wonder we are the joke of british football, the one player we needed to keep no matter what to stand a half decent chance of bouncing straight back to the premier league is Pickford.

He said himself that he didnt want to think of his future til after the international duty, now I know its highly unlikely but for all we know he might have come back from international duty and said - i want to stay for at least another season and have guarenteed playing time rather that sat on bench. End of that season might be back in prem anyway and not need to leave.

So what do we do, we agree a fee with Everton while the kid is away.

Yes we need money but we also need good players and you cant ask for more than a kid with his skills and a passion to play for his home team.

Im probably going to get shot down in flames but i think we need to keep him no matter the cost.

That is thought to consist of £18m up front with an additional £12m over time when certain clauses are triggered.

Good luck to him, we can acquire a new goalkeeper for a lot less than that and we have another good young keeper coming through the ranks.

Atleast at Everton he will get to play.

It would have been a luxury to keep him and the money, hopefully, will be better spent on the young players we need to mount a promotion challenge over the next couple of seasons.

Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has undergone a medical ahead of a planned £30m move to Everton, according to Sky sources.
The medical took place in Poland, where Pickford is currently preparing for the Under-21 Euros with his England U21 team-mates.
Sky sources reported earlier this week that [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], who was one of the star performers for the relegated Black Cats during their disappointing 2016/17 campaign.

Good luck to him but am really sad he is leaving.

By the way Mr H thinks Jordan is a good keeper and potentially a great one, but that Everton are mad to pay £30m for him. He cannot get used to them having money to spend at last! Laughing

Tell Mr H not to worry, they won't be asking him for a donation.
