JUAN Sartori says he remains determined to buy a football club despite failing to take over Oxford United.
The Uruguayan businessman saw his bid to seize control of the U’s rejected by chairman Darryl Eales on Wednesday morning.
The 36-year-old was understandably disappointed with the outcome, which came after three months of talks with the United owner.
But Sartori says the experience has not dampened his enthusiasm to own a club in the future – in fact quite the opposite.
And he admits to becoming a bit of an Oxford United fan over the past three months, and is hoping to get to a match next season.
“I would think it very likely at some point I find a club to buy that I like,” he said.
“This is because I am passionate about football and I like the thought of building a successful club.
“Whether that it is in England or a different country, with Oxford United or a different club I do not know – but I will spend money on the right opportunity.
“I think you can certainly say it probably won’t be the last time I try to do something in football.”
Sartori watched United in action against Bolton Wanderers last season and says he was impressed with both the club and the atmosphere created by supporters.
He is hoping to get to another United game next season and says whatever happens in the future, he will keep a close eye on the club’s progress.
“Now I have become an Oxford United fan and I will be supporting the club in the future,” he said.
“If there is an opportunity to come to a game I will try and make it. I would like to do so.”
