Not sunderland related but just watching brazil v argentina on tv being played at mcg in melbourne. Messi playing. Argentina 1 - 0 at half time. Crowd in excess of 95,000.

World cup qualifying game and Saudis wandered the pitch when stadium paused for minute silence.

We only have one professional club over here operating in the Aussie league and it limps along financially but the game at grass roots is strong .  I have a wander down to the beach area and there is always two or three games going on in the various age groups, including the veterans! 

It is taking off bigger at school level as well with mixed gender teams.
