Derek McInnes would be ideal for the vacant managerial position at Sunderland, according to Brendan Rodgers. That declaration, made as it was on the eve of today’s William Hill Scottish Cup final between Celtic and Aberdeen could be construed, according to inclination, as a generous tribute or an adept piece of gamesmanship by the Hoops manager.
It was not, though, a mere hint on Rodgers’s part. “Derek has been at big clubs. He played at Rangers, he has been down in England so he understands it. He has been down in England and has had a difficult time so he gets that and he has done a great job with Aberdeen,” Rodgers said.
