Borini to Celtic ?

Post  silvers on 2017-05-08, 11:42 pm

CELTIC are interested in signing Sunderland striker Fabio Borini, according to reports in Italy.

Di Marzio claims new Hoops Head of Recruitment Lee Congerton has been monitoring the former Roma man.

The 26-year-old has struggled for form this term, scoring just once in 19 games.
Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers has previously worked with Borini at Chelsea, Swansea and Liverpool.
Rodgers made him his first Anfield signing in 2012 and speaking at the time said: “He is arguably the best physical player I’ve worked with in terms of his pace, power and fitness.
“Mentally, he’s very strong.
“I think the supporters will love him. He’s a multi-functional player who can play in a number of positions and someone I believe has got great growth.”
The link comes just days after Rodgers promised Hoops fans that big-money signings would arrive in the summer.
He said: “There is talent out there and we will always look to get it.
“As a Celtic supporter, I know what the fans want.
“They have always had someone with the magic. They have always had someone who gets them up off their feet. Always.
“So I know what they want, hence the reason I brought in Scott Sinclair because he gets them up off their seats.
“We’ll be looking for that. How many? A manager will always tell you three, but it really is a limited amount.
“The players I’d like to bring in could make a real impact and help the boys here. A game-changing player? Yeah.”

I suspect Borini will go back to Italy, where no doubt he will score loads of goals, and end up playing Champions league Crying or Very sad

Celtic will no way be able to afford what we want for him and what he will want in wages. They couldn't match what Huddersfield are paying Fletcher!!!

I doubt we are stuck with this lad, but if we lose JD he may come good alongside Anichebe (if he gets kept on).  Either way, he has a lot to prove having failed at LFC as well.

Yes always rated Alves, but he learned his trade in Spain, and was too good to leave Barcelona I think.

My abiding memory of last night's game though, was the antics. Some Italian players deserve Oscars for the way they roll around when tackled trying to get opposition players booked. Even when 4-0 up on aggregate! It's not football IMO.

...the rest was.... Who?
I personally rate Buffoon rather highly & would've thought the rest would stroll into an EPL team.

Whats wrong with a player born in one country playing for another if they've not played for their country of birth?

Ps. In the past four finals how many English finalists have there been.

If he goes to Celtic, maybe on a lower wage, he will play in the Champions League

.. or he could stay with us and play at Burton and Barnsley...

I think his ego will take him to Celtic..

Brendon Rogers didn't want him at Liverpool.....he loaned him to us and the season he went back he never played him, then he sold him to us....can't see him going there....if he did mind he would be brilliant against lesser players
