Sunderland v FC Porto. Match Day Thread.

Post  cyprussyd on 2017-04-27, 11:00 am

Details have been confirmed for Sunderland under-23s’ Premier League International Cup final against European giants FC Porto.
The prestigious final will take place at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday 17 May (KO 7pm) and entry will be FREE to encourage as many fans as possible to cheer on the Black Cats as their superb European journey reaches its finale.
A thrilling route to the final saw the under-23s overcome a host of Europe’s top clubs including Benfica and PSV Eindhoven, with a tense semi-final tie against Norwich City sealing a coveted place in the showpiece fixture.
Please note that although tickets are free of charge they must be secured in advance of the game.
Tickets are available via the usual channels and all fans who secure their seat will be given a £5 voucher towards any purchase of 2016-17 adidas replica kit and training wear at club stores*.
Speaking ahead of the game, under-23 boss Elliott Dickman said: “To reach the final – overcoming some top opposition in the process – has in itself been a great achievement for the players and we now want to finish the job.
“Playing at the Stadium of Light is always a fantastic experience for our younger players. To do so in front of a big crowd will be a fitting reward for them and with free entry we hope to see as many Sunderland fans as possible here to support the young players.”

Aww man I might go to this and make myself a liar Embarassed

Although technically, if its free to get in and I don't buy anything from the concessions, I am still not paying anything towards Ellis Short's pension fund am I?  Very Happy

Anyone else thinking of going?

Over 12,000 tickets issued so far, it's free, it's the future it's a final.

Got mine. Wish I'd have bought them earlier - they seem to be working their way round the ground in terms of allocation.

Not sure whether to try and risk the free parking or whether it will be chaos trying to get out. May just stick to my usual - St. Marys.

Anyway - really looking forward to it. Hope they get a load more going.

West stand and south west corner now sold out so starting to fill the south stand.

Should be a cracking game so if you can get there do it, you need a ticket but go online or phone, they are free.
