NUFC

Post  cyprussyd on 2017-04-24, 3:07 pm

By the end of the day I fully expect to see Newcastle United promoted back to the premiership and I will say well done. They employed a top manager then backed him, a lesson there for any football club owner who may be reading this.

I know that according to some SAFC fans I'm supposed to hate Newcastle and everything to do with Newcastle but, I have never understood that. Why and how do I hate friends and neighbours indeed family members because they support a football team?

Yes I laughed when they were relegated last season and fully expect to hear some laughter coming back this. But I was also genuinely sad when John Alder and Liam Sweeney lost their lives in the M17 crash.Genualy sad at the loss of Pavel Srníček and Sir Bobby Robson and heartened by NUFC fans response to our Bradley.

I would love to think we will make a quick return but I have my doubts however, my season card is renewed and I look forward to maybe, just maybe, watching us win a few games next season.
It's a funny old game.

All credit to the mags..

Backed the manager significantly to get them back up.

Whether they now back him 'big' in the premier league is a different kettle of fish.

But credit where it is due.

It's a difficult and physical  league to get out of and they've done it with comparative ease.

Even worse defending by Newcastle made it 1-1 and then, with neither side really threatening, an idiotic mistake by Preston and now 2-1 Crying or Very sad

Deliberate handball by Paul Gallagher to stop a certain goal, He was sent off and a penalty was scored 3-1. Then 2 minutes later 4-1.

That is them promoted no doubt but from what I have seen tonight Newcastle will have to invest heavily over summer to have a team that will survive in the Premier league. If Mike Ashley does not come through with the required funding, Benitez can go to practically any team in Europe so will not hang around. Just in case we have any Magpie lurkers, my advice is to wait and see how the summer proceeds before getting too cocky. Remember we were on an upward trend this time last year too, and then look what happened! Mad

Putting aside that we ain't down yet, good that they have got back.  But that is the job only half done as they just do not have the quality players (sound familiar?) to ensure they will not be struggling next season.  Big money will have to be invested and it will be interesting who they can sign to replace those they let go at the end of last season.
