don't blame him....if he played for a top 6 team he would have well over 20 goals this season.....if/when he goes I will wish him all the best for the future....he's always gave his all in every match he's played for us

Not a particularly surprising statement given the circumstances.  Realistically though he just does not have an England career looming given his age.  There is a temporary shortage of strikers for the next six months or so.

yea i expected that, would have left even if England never came calling and i don't blame him one bit. I am surprised he has stayed with us this long as it is.

Nothing like a headline written to gain clicks....... Evil or Very Mad

And from the full unedited interview on the BBC

He added: "You have to be playing at the top level. I missed out on a World Cup when I went to Toronto. You probably need to be playing in the Premier League."

Defoe does NOT want to leave Sunderland but if he does he will go with my good wishes for what he has doen for us since he arrived, on and off the field.

In his interview he says he PROBABLY needs to be playing in the Premier League to have a chance of selection for England, but he is realistic and knows he only has an outside chance of going to next years World Cup anyway. So if and when the decisions needs to be made there will be a lot more to it than prolonging his England career.

I am certain if he has the choice he would prefer to stay in the Premier League with Sunderland and he intends to do everything in his power to ensure that happens.

I most certainly blame them!

Why do you not when it is the players whom got the club into this position?
