As we enter Christmas week can I take a moment to wish all you SunderMadders the most perfect, peaceful, pleasant Christmas imaginable.

Personally I'm not a fan but I know many are, for me Christmas is all about excess, finding the money for that must have, worry, I hope and pray thàt everyone reading this has avoided all of those.

In Coxhoe Annette and I are looking forward to a very quiet, very close and very loving Christmas.

Health and mobility play a big part so we will spend Christmas day at home with our presents, with my home made Christmas dinner, no excess this year, our waste biñ is no big fan of turkey, but my main aim for Christmas day is to see Annette smiling, happy and totally relaxed.

Whatever your plans, wherever you are spending Christmas and whoever you are spending it with I sincerely hope you are spending it with who you want doing what you wang and that you enjoy it.

Not a fan myself mate the commercial side or the religious side will be a bit different this year as a mate of mine died last week so will be cracking the black suit cover again getting far too regular this lark. Anyway have a good one mate and just do your own thing if people don't like it then so what.

You bunch of miserable old scrooge's....I do enjoy Christmas....perhaps not as much as when I was  bairn...but still ir is a time to enjoy not endure. Get yourself along to a carol service or sally ann brass band and smile and laugh.

Ar our advanced ages we know too well life's up and downs so when there is a chance embrace the season...attend as many Christmas lunches you can.

A MERRY CHRISTMAS ONE AND ALL

I have always been against the commercialisation of Christmas and while it is hard to resist the urge to buy more and more and more I have never gone into debt for Christmas and my children never went without the only thing that is important at Christmas - LOVE!

This year is really special though being the first Christmas in our new home with all my children and grandchildren here too. I can certainly  recommend having a 3 year old and a newborn around to help you remember the joys of Christmas! Two Fridays ago we were invited, with the nursery and reception and year one children from the primary school, to attend a Christingle service in the local church. All the children were gven a Christingle orange and the older children and the vicar told the story of the Nativity, and lit the candles and we all sang some modern carols with the children. Leo loved it and despite not being religious I felt full of the joys of the season when we left. Friday gone we all went to my grandson's nursery nativity play (Leo was a king, and had to feed the camels!) and it was so lovely, hilarious in places, and seeing all those little faces having fun was really what Christmas should be all about.

That is what Christmas means to me; happy children, peace, love and joy. Simple words that I hope every one of us, regardless of beliefs, wish for each other, as I do to all my dear Sundermad friends I love you

LOVE
Christmas
Always have had good Christmases over the years from a happy childhood into adult years.
It's a great family time and I love the build up.
It's a little quieter these days but I still manage a few enjoyable days leading up to Christmas.
Sadly it's not as much a religious Christmas as it used to be I have great religious Christmas memories.
I have been lucky over the years and I do understand Christmas is not a happy time for all of use.
That's sad
However I would like to wish all our Sundermad friends and family
A very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year

I don't go with what Christmas has become, but that may be my Catholic Midnight Mass etc coming into play and certainly go along with H's sentiments. Fortunately over here we are nowhere near the commercialism that has invaded the British Christmas but it is slowly heading that way.

Post  Black Cat Kiwi on 2016-12-18, 8:59 pm

Christmas has always provided me with a special time to focus on the love of friends and family whilst extending support to those whom find this time of year particularly difficult as I reflect on the year that's been. For me this is something that I should be doing more often but alas I'm at times to selfish by putting myself and those within our home first.

As we look across the diner table some whom were physically there last year will not this time but will forever remain so in our hearts. To those whom are in that situation, I feel your loss, you are not alone.

Christmas doesn't have to be about spending money by way of expensive gifts and contrary to some I believe it is a personal choice to purchase, not retailers to sell.

Time is the most precious gift life gives us so please I applaud you all, PLEASE just phone someone or pay them a visit to their home, for the gift of your time, will be their most cherished received of all.

Best health to all and your loved ones, wherever they may be.
BCK
