Off Topic. Today I have been mainly...................

Post  Nostalgic on 2016-12-02, 5:39 am

Hopefully a friendly lighthearted thread where we can post a daily something that has happened in  our day. So to start.....................

Up a ladder pruning trees, secateurs, saw and long loppers. Now have a load of branches to get rid of and am absolutely knackered but I'll be buggered if I will pay somebody else to do it.  Sat back now waiting for beer o'clock in two hours. Sleep

Just up but will be going out for our very first adventure with Annette trying some Christmas shopping with me pushing her new wheelchair.

I can see a day of arguments ahead with every crash and high shelf being my fault.

Well, tiz Friday... and Friday evening is spent with long-time friends at Sunniside Club.
I'm the youngest of the bunch by the way. I'm still 'young Keith ' ....
We have lost one or two over the cast couple of years which is a bit sobering  but always an occasion to anticipate.

40 years ago we used to walk there and back....  alas no more!
Taxi both ways these days..

And everything they do!   Twisted Evil

A mate of mine was telling me yesterday that Whickham club has closed.
Bit of a shock that, was always busy when I've been in.

Yes, Blaydon, Swalwell and Whickham all closed !

It's a sign of the times sadly.
Even Sunniside is quiet these days. Gone are the days when it was standing room only!

Sad state of affairs fella.
There'll be no clubs open in a few years.
I drink in Tanfield Lea club & it's just about ticking over.

The only really busy nights in Coxhoe club these days are bingo nights, many turn up just before 7, havebone drink, 9lay bingo then go home at 9.
And the weekend when they show live eithervus or Newcastle, whoever is away.

Yes Syd, that reflects exactly what it's like here.
It's only open 2-4 on an afternoon apart from Friday & Saturday.
There's only about half a dozen of us get in.
I can see the day in the not too distant future when the only open in the evening.

watching the Forest v Mags game and it is highly entertaining and comical. Two penalties, both saved, two sendings off for NUFC and Forest gift them a goal.  To crown it all Bentdnter missed the first penalty.

Had to give in to pressure from my daughter and ended up putting up the Christmas tree and some decorations with my very excited grandson. Got fish and chips from the excellent Pinnacles in Seahouses for tea, so no cooking or washing up, and have spent the evening cuddling my baby grand-daughter.

What a lovely day it has been Very Happy
