Im very sorry to hear of peoples bad experiences with religion, I consider myself extremely fortunate in my childhood when I read it.

I was brought up C of E in a small coal mining village, RE at school, church every Sunday and confirmed by the bishop of Jarrow.

Religion was never ramed down my throat it was just there. Typical of most families my mother helped at church and my dad was only ever seen there at weddings, christening and funerals.

We also hsd a catholic school and catholic church and I had friend's on both sides, it was never a problem.

I still have a faith, belief, hope or whatever it is but dont follow any particular religion.

For me its not about god, jesus, virgin birth or any bible, its about a way of life and a set of values, values I was brought up with. Love for other people, respect, trying to do whats right, tollerance, hope and turning the other cheek.

Of course you can have all these things without any religion but many have and enjoy a faith that guides them.

If you are an athiest then that's fine by me, I neither criticise nor condemn.
On a final note my grandson was bulied badly in the second year of junior school, it afected him, made him angry and extremely unhappy. His school seemed incapable of helping.

Eventually he moved to the village catholic school, he was taught religion but not forced into it, he changed into the happy inteligent nice boy we hsd known.
He is now in senior school, still Catholic, still happy and doing very well, he does not belive in God.
It wasn't religion that changed him it was an environment built on Christian values.

Not all religious people sre the same or religious schools, thats why I would never generalise and tar them all with the same brush.

I quite liked  the MSF picture and put it in my Facebook.

One argument for s good God. ..is that there is obviously a right evil bastard of a devil with all the shit that is going on...so I kind of hope there is am equally powerful  good guy around there.

I do agree that many wars and conquests do seem to have religion somewhere in the mix as a reason for them happening.

However it is also true with many of the mainstream religions that many of the adherents in Christianity Islam Buddusts etc follow great humanist principles....although it does also strike me that the most fervent of the adherents are the most bonkers and nasty.

Anyhow I quite like the picture

Well if he does exist he's a rapist.
Let's face facts. Mary had nee say did she?
God just f*cked her & knocked her up with a bastard child who he willingly allowed to be murdered.
Furthermore, he tried to wipe out the entire world.
Aye, sounds like a decent chap.
