New Grand-daughter

Post  Hieronymus on 2016-10-21, 10:32 pm

My new grand-daughter arrived safe and sound at 16:49 today. 7lbs 3 oz, no name as yet

Just got home after an exhausting and emotional day. Both mammy and baby are gorgeous and doing well.

I will post pics when I get permission!

Nice one H and family. With five granddaughters teen and upwards over here I can say they are dear sweet things and always a source of wonderment.

Thank you all for your kind words and good wishes. It means a lot.

We have never stopped since mum and baby got discharged unexpectedly from hospital on Saturday, 24 hours after her c-section! We came to visit and found out they 'needed the bed' so Mr H had to drive all the way back to Seahouses (from Cramlington Hospital, an hour each way) to collect the baby seat as we had not put it in the car, not expecting them to go home so quickly. We were offered the option to go to Hillcrest Unit in Alnwick for a few days, but my daughter didn't feel like having the upheaval of moving twice. The moden NHS eh? Anyway, all is well, mum and baby are gorgeous and doing brilliantly and our new darling girl is a total angel.

Baby's name is Lailie Eleanor. Lailie is an old Hebrew name that means nightfall, and Eleanor was my mother-in-law's name, meaning bright, shining one. Grandma was very close to my daughter, but she sadly passed away only a couple of weeks before we found out Leo was on the way. I am sure she would be really proud and honoured to be remembered by giving her name to a new great-granddaughter.

I love her name, unusual but simple, and it suits her beautifully as you can hopefully see from these pics:

Even at my advanced age the wonder of childbirth amazes me.
What only a few days ago was a bump in a tummy is now a gorgeous living breathing human being.

Welcome to the world Lailie Eleanor, I hope you are never bitten by the Mackem bug, it will save you years of torment.

Hi Barrow and thank you very much. I am totally besotted. She really is a blessing and I am sure you feel the same about your little grand-daughter  Very Happy

Apart from Lailie I also have Leo who is 3 and a half and yes, I certainly get withdrawal symptoms and miss them terribly when they leave as they split their time between Uganda and the UK so are away for months at a time. The house always seems so empty and quiet when they are not here, if a lot tidier!! But we have Skype and I facebook them every day so it is not as bad as it would have been before t'internet!!

And I often think that I have a better deal than many of my friends who have grandchildren living elsewhere in the UK, who they only see a couple of times a year for a few days at a time.

Here is a current picture of my little angels - back home in Uganda at minute but will be returning to UK for 4 weeks at end of May. I think I might just cuddle them almost to death when I see them I love you
