A sad month ..

Post  silvers on 2016-08-17, 3:01 pm

A sad month for me.

It is a year since my friend Brian, and his wife Chris were killed (by burglars)  in South Africa to where they had emigrated.

Brian and I had gone right through school together - infants, juniors then Consett Grammar.

Photo is of Brian and me outside his parents' home (early 1960s ?)

Yours truly on the left...... the short one!

Brian and Chris were life long sunderland supporters and I'm told thst at their funeral they both wore their Sunderland tops.

I'm sure I remember you telling us about this last year Silvers.

It's a strange world and I'm sure family and friends will have thought, if only?

If we knew what the future held we would only try to change it but life is not like that.

Not much comfort I know but at least neither had to suffer the pain of losing the love of their life.

Thinking of you Silvers xx

Can empathise with you on this Silvers. Last June I lost a friend who died to an aggressive cancer after a two month illness which ended a 57 year association. Big Gunners fan and last weekend the phone would have been red hot as we watched games together.

I thought he was indestructible even though he was 83 years old. Neither of us could explain how or why the association was so strong.
