Energy suppliers

Post  vinkel on 2016-06-14, 9:29 am

Do you stay loyal, or are you a serial changer. I have been with first utility for a couple of years now and am nearing the end of my current contract. They have another one on offer now i am interested in and am tempted to stay. Though i could move and save £20 over a year, £20 is £20 but is it really worth changing when i have a product i am happy with. What are your thoughts?

I change and look at price and service. I'm big on service.
I changed to first utility around 18 months ago. When I moved I intended to stay with them but was annoyed with a few things.
I'm now with Scottish power,I pay a little more but I'm far happier with the service

I have had dual fuel and servicing  with British Gas..... for years now.
Not a pick of bother touch wood.

I have a couple of friends who are chopping and changing constantly, but not without bother.
Which makes me happier to stick with what I've got.

Of course, everyone's experiences are different.  All companies have their problems and niggles.

Up here in the "Wild Hills of Wannee" we don't have mains gas. LPG is at least 50% more expensive and you can only change suppliers every 2 years at best and there are only three suppliers anyway that serve us up here. Cannot get dual fuel discounts either from the big suppliers so pay more for electricity. The price of rural living!

But when I lived in Tynemouth I was with Atlantic Energy (part of SSE) for years and they were the best for service I ever knew and competitive when I compared prices. I never changed because I was on a tariff that refunded 1/12 of my payments automatically every year, as long as I stayed with them. That was always a nice surprise when it arrived in my bank!

Personally I look at customer service and a UK call centre, before price.

I joined this energy club [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and move on the strength of there advice when they advise me via e-mail that a cheaper supplier now exists
