Managers have a "ludicrous" lifespan in football, says Hull boss Steve Bruce.
Louis van Gaal became the 56th manager to be sacked in England's top four divisions this season when he was dismissed by Manchester United.
"There's this thing in football where there's a roundabout and that these managers just get back on - they don't," Bruce, 55, said.
"Football is a changing world and the one thing about managers now is we get used to getting the sack."
The former Manchester United captain added: "The lifespan of a manager is 13-14 months, which is ludicrous isn't it?"
Speaking to BBC Radio 4 earlier in May, League Managers' Association boss Richard Bevan said the 2015-16 campaign had been "the worst season ever" for managerial departures.
Bevan also stated that 54 managers had been sacked at that point - since the interview, Blackpool dismissed their boss Neil McDonald and Van Gaal left Old Trafford, with ex-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho expected to replace the Dutchman.
"Always when a manager loses his job, whether it's Louis van Gaal or even Jose Mourinho this year, then you wonder how crazy the world is," Bruce added.
"Looking back on it, I'm sure they [Manchester United] will be disappointed with how it's been handled because that's not great from the club which always sets the highest standards."
Bruce will oversee his 201st match in charge of Hull when they take on Sheffield Wednesday in Saturday's Championship play-off final at Wembley.
Goalkeeper Allan McGregor is unlikely to be fit in time for the game because of a back injury, so Eldin Jakupovic - who played in both legs of the semi-final win over Derby - is set to deputise in goal.

The unfortunate fact that seems to be emerging is that some of the rich clubs do not like losing on the wealth that Europe brings and hire and fire at will without understanding much about football. With the best managers from the continent heading this way we are now reaching the age of super manager to go with the super club scenario. I wonder if any of them will sign a long term contract or just want to win something, be declared a hero, then move to another big club.

For the sake of the game I would love Leics Spurs and Arsenal to do what they did last season and let the rich kids fight over one place. Doubt if it will happen but it is a nice thought.
