It may seem early to be looking ahead to our first home game but hopefully the manager and team will be looking ahead to put right the Leicester wrongs.

Both teams need to win this one to kick start their season but with us being the home team a win is a must IMO.

A few things I will be looking at..

  • Back 4, does O'Shea come back?
  • Jones or Mathews?
  • M'Villa Catts or both?
  • 4-3-3/4-4-2/4-2-3-1/4-4-1-1?
  • Fletcher, Defoe or both?
  • New signings?

Big game ahead

Love the header Syd, if we play as well as we did yesterday, we'll be tough to beat, just really want a good referee!

We don't have the personnel for 433 mate so why not go 442 but, for the love of God ( other deitys are available) do not collapse, do not gift Norwich a start and like you say mate do not lose.
Second game of the season and the cracks are appearing.

I have heard a rumour that  one Kevin Friend is to be ref.....We are doomed to lose at least one player to a red card, have a penalty given against us and have one turned down for us...If that is the case.

Unfortunately Sunders you are indeed right in that it is K. Friend.
Shall we have a sweep on who gets the red first Catts or Mvila?
My preferred option would have been 4-2-3-1 but not sure now that nomates is the ref. Drop either Rodders or Seb to accommodate Mvila and stick Giachh in ahead of AJ. We're at home, we need to go for it and AJ is a bloody good impact sub.

We must go for it from kick off, I would rather lose than see a backs to the wall 0-0

Mostly happy with that but I would swap Larsson for Johnson. I thought Johnson was poor last weekend and did not deserve the armband when Catts went off.

that would not surprise me one bit, maybe it will be a good thing and we will see Giacchorini final take off.

BBC Sport says Johnson out for 2 months with shoulder injury, as rumoured on here earlier.

Adam Johnson: Sunderland winger out injured for two months
Sunderland winger Adam Johnson will be out for at least two months after injuring his shoulder in training.
Black Cats boss Dick Advocaat said the England international will have a scan on Wednesday to establish the full extent of the "serious" injury.
Johnson played in Saturday's 4-2 defeat at Leicester on the opening day of the Premier League season.
