Newly-appointed Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren is considering bringing in former Chelsea assistant Bolo Zenden as the first addition to his backroom staff, the Daily Mail report.
The former midfielder is renowned among Premier League viewers, having had spells at Middlesbrough, Liverpool, Chelsea and lastly North East rivals Sunderland.
During his time with the Black Cats, the former Dutch international made a total of 47 Premier League appearances before retiring in 2011 and later becoming Rafa Benitez’s number two at Chelsea.
Zenden has worked under McClaren at Boro, and his fine work in a coaching role has led to reports linking him with a return to Liverpool as Brendan Rodgers’ number two, as per Sky Sports.
However, fresh reports claim that Newcastle Steve McClaren could make the 38-year-old his first addition at St. James’ Park, and arguably the most important one of the summer.

“Newly-appointed Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren could bring in Boudewijn Zenden as his assistant in his first move since taking over at St James' Park earlier this week,” the Daily Mail report.
Former England manager McClaren took over the reins at Newcastle last week following his sacking from Derby County, a move which had been speculated on for some time.

Despite a disappointing end to last season, the 54-year-old was a success at the iPro Stadium and improved both performances and results during his tenure.
The Geordie supporters may feel a little uneasy over his appointment, but given time and with the right backroom staff, he could soon have the Magpies challenging once again at the right end of the table.

Would prefer Bolo to come to us and work as DA's right hand man then we may have a ready made and popular successor if all goes well.

Former Chelsea, Middlesbrough, Liverpool and Sunderland man Boudewijn Zenden says that he does not plan to work with Steve McClaren at Newcastle United.

Former Sunderland attacker Boudewijn Zenden has told Voetbal International that he spoke to Steve McClaren following his appointment as the Newcastle United head coach.
Former Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest boss McClaren was handed the role at Newcastle earlier this month following his departure from Championship outfit Derby County in May.
The Englishman is still looking for an assistant, and Zenden has revealed that he held talks with him.
However, the former Liverpool and Middlesbrough attacker, who is currently the assistant manager at Jong PSV, has ruled out moving to Newcastle this summer.

“After his (Steve McClaren's) appointment, we really talked, but it's not like I am going there to work,” Zenden told Voetbal International.
“The rumours are obviously nice. They show that you have worked well with those people, but I am not going to Newcastle or Liverpool.”
Zenden is a well-respected figure in English football, and has played for the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool among others.

The 38-year-old has also worked as an assistant manager at London outfit Chelsea, and perhaps in the future he could become a manager in his own right.
Zenden also played for Spanish giants Barcelona, with whom he won La Liga in the 1998-99 season.
Who should be Steve McClaren’s assistant manager at Newcastle United?
