WEDNESDAY 20TH MAY
KO 19.45
THE EMIRATES STADIUM
Live on Sky Sports1

Our game in hand and one we need a point from but playing for a point is not an easy tactic.

We know that playing football will see us come out second best but, intense in your face football could get us that point we need.

Team will depend on injures with Jones going off but I can see it changing much, for me it would be Johnson on for Bridcutt.

This is a hope game...Swansea showed that it is possible to fustrate them. We have to park the proverbial bus.

If we lose next weekend and the days before than are going to feel like years.

Antony Taylor is ref....not great but not Friend or Twatkinson etc

Tough game to predict mate get it right and we can get the point needed. That however is down to the team and DA, they will know the rewards for just a point they will also know that failure while still failure is not the end of the world just yet.
If Arsenal have one eye on Wembley we could just nick that point and, a win down there is long overdue for us.
Parking the bus could work but our bus has 3 flat tyres and no engine so not the tactic I'd go for
0-0 thriller for me in hope more than expectation.

Because of todays point at OT Arsenal now only need 1 point (because of better gd) to claim 3rd place.that should take a little pressure off.

Arsenal host Sunderland on Wednesday in a Ford Football Special, with the Black Cats needing a solitary point to secure their status in the top flight.

Live on Sky Sports

Dick Advocaat's team are on track for their second consecutive great escape as they sit 16th - three points above Hull, who currently occupy the final relegation spot.
The visitors have lost only one of their last six matches - a 4-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.
The Gunners secured their passage to next year’s Champions League group stage with a 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday and second spot is still possible if they win both remaining games and Manchester City fail to get anything at home to Southampton on the final day.

Arsene Wenger joked with reporters at a press conference that he doesn't pay attention to what other managers say

The hosts will be keen to put in a good performance as they look to show Arsene Wenger they are worth a starting spot at Wembley, ahead of the FA Cup final on May 30.
Team news
Arsenal are likely to be without Laurent Koscielny as the defender recovers from a bout of the flu so Brazilian defender Gabriel could start alongside Per Mertesacker in central defence.

Arsenal: Won seven of the last 10 league meetings with Sunderland

Mathieu Debuchy is not expected to return to full training until Friday and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Welbeck are also unavailable. Theo Walcott, whose deflected strike earned the Gunners a point in Manchester, may feature from the off.
Defender Billy Jones has become the latest injury problem for Sunderland after picking up a muscle problem in the goalless draw with Leicester.

Arsene Wenger refused to reveal whether he was interested in signing Raheem Sterling

Wes Brown, Jordi Gomez and Ricky Alvarez all remain sidelined through knee injuries’ while Jack Rodwell is out with a hamstring strain.
Opta stats
Arsenal have won seven and lost none of their last 10 Premier League matches against Sunderland.

Sunderland: Still not safe from relegation

Sunderland have alternated between defeats and 0-0 draws on their seven visits to the Emirates Stadium.
Olivier Giroud has scored three goals in four Premier League games against Sunderland.
Lee Cattermole received his 14th booking of the season on Saturday, the joint-most in a PL season, level with Mark Hughes, Robbie Savage and Cheick Tioté. All 14 have been for fouls.

Graeme Souness and Thierry Henry have urged Arsenal to spend big this summer

34 per cent of the goals Arsenal have conceded this season have been from headers, the highest proportion in the top flight.

Dick Advocaat: It's in our own hands

Arsenal are odds on to win the game with Sky Bet at 2/7, with the draw at 9/2 and Sunderland 9/1 to grab a shock away win.
Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas is tipping a comprehensive 3-0 win for the Gunners with Alexis Sanchez to score, that scenario priced at a whopping 19/1.
Former Tottenham strike Jermain Defoe faces Arsenal for the first time since returning from his season in Major League Soccer and is 11/1 to open the scoring at the Emirates.

Sunderland secured Premier League survival after a point at Arsenal left Hull and Newcastle fighting to avoid the last relegation spot.
The Black Cats produced a battling display and could have won the match.
Substitute Steven Fletcher missed three chances while Patrick van Aanholt was denied by keeper David Ospina.
Arsenal, who have all but clinched a place in the Champions League group stage, went closest when Sunderland defender Billy Jones hit his own post.
