Dick Advocaat reveals Jordi Gomez's season is over because of a fractured kneecap. Brown also won't play again this term. #safc

Apparently fractured knee-cap. Wes Brown also out with knee injury. Nee bother then!! Also Rodwell injured.
Bit of good news Giaccherini has been training for past two weeks and will be on bench!

Err it may mean Tyrion Lannister (aka Liam Bridcutt) may be starting...or is Rodwell fit (according to physio room not till next week)?

Could put Reviere(?) in as LB and push PvA into midfield

Liam Bridcutt to start for Sunderland against Leicester in survival showdown after double injury blow

WES BROWN ... the defender won't play again this season.

Chris Young chris.young@jpress.co.uk 15:09 Friday 15 May 2015

SUNDERLAND have been dealt an injury blow on the eve of tomorrow’s survival showdown against Leicester City, with Jordi Gomez and Wes Brown both ruled out.

Neither Gomez nor Brown will play again this season, with Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat forced to make a couple of changes for the visit of fellow strugglers Leicester, as the Black Cats look to secure their Premier League status.

Liam Bridcutt will take Gomez’s place in the line-up at the Stadium of Light, with more than 45,000 fans exected at the match.

Gomez is out for six weeks after suffering a fractured knee cap, while Brown faces a couple of weeks on the sidelines with a recurrence of the knee problem that saw him ruled out for six weeks prior to his return in last weekend’s crunch victory at Everton.

John O’Shea has recovered from sore ribs and is fit again to provide a like-for-like replacement for Brown.

Advocaat confirmed at his pre-match press conference that Jack Rodwell is also still sidelined and Bridcutt - rather than Adam Johnson - will come into the side.

However, the Sunderland squad will be boosted by the return of Emanuele Giaccherini this weekend, with the Italian international out since February after undergoing an operation on his ankle.

Is the correct response! Very Happy

I have not had time to verify this claim, but just read elsewhere that we have not won a game this season without Jordi Gomez in the team  affraid

All I would say about Bridcutt is Gomez and Coates, two useless players until Dick got hold of them

If this happened 5-6 games ago I wouldn't be overly unhappy that he was out but, now he has been decent in the last few games so could be a miss.

Stuff putting Brids in. Stick Giacchi in for an hour, get our two goal lead then swap with Brids to hang on for the last twenty minutes. Job done.
