A Derby County supporter has been arrested after running on to the pitch at today's game against Nottingham Forest and making contact with a Forest player, police said.

The incident came at the end of the match at the iPro stadium, which visitors Forest won 2-1.

Witnesses saw a supporter run on after the final whistle and try to throw a punch at Forest defender Kelvin Wilson, before confronting a handful of other Forest players.

The fan, who ran on from a Derby section of the stadium and through a line of stewards, appeared to swing at Wilson and was then tackled to the ground by his team-mate, Jamaal Lascelles.

He was surrounded by stewards and dragged away from the Forest players.

A police spokesman said: 'Tension arose between both sets of supporters towards the end of the game, after Nottingham Forest had scored their second goal.

'A 23-year-old Derby supporter from the south stand entered the playing area and made contact with a Nottingham Forest player.

'The supporter has been arrested, and a joint investigation will be taking place between Derbyshire Police and Derby County.'

A man has been arrested on suspicion of pitch encroachment after Nottingham Forest's Kelvin Wilson was allegedly attacked at the end of a match.
The arrest came following the final whistle at Derby County's iPro Stadium.
Following the game - which the Reds won 2-1 - a car belonging to Nottingham Forest chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi was found vandalised.
Derbyshire Police said it is investigating that and reports of a coach window being smashed.
A spokesperson for the force said damage to the car was thought to have happened between 13:15 and 14:30 GMT, while the car was parked in the directors' car park at the stadium.
Police said there was damage to the front and rear tyres and a rear panel of the car had been dented.
Mr Hasawi tweeted a photo of a Mercedes-Benz Viano with a tyre slashed and a number plate removed.
It read: "Very professional! But in the end I don't mind at all! The 3 points are more important!"

That lad will live to regret this massively as there will be a lengthy, if not lifetime, ban for him.
