Former Sunderland and Newcastle United striker Michael Chopra believes he could do a job in the Championship following a spell in the Indian Super League.

Michael Chopra was playing Championship football as recently as last season.
He was released by Blackpool at the end of the campaign, but is a proven performer at that level following successful spells at Cardiff City and Ipswich.
The former Newcastle United and Sunderland man believes he could still do a job in the second-tier if offered the opportunity.

His involvement in the inaugural Indian Super League has come to a close and the 31-year-old forward hopes offers will be put to him to return to England.
Chopra told Sky Sports: “I want to get back playing football as quick as possible especially as I’ve just come back from playing in some big games in India including semi-finals and the final.
“I’m sure people are aware of what I did out there and with the transfer window now open, I have the chance to play in England again and hopefully there will be clubs looking at me here and around the world.

“I’d also consider playing abroad again because I’ve proved I’m up for the challenge. If that means playing in a new country, in a new league and adjusting to that lifestyle then so be it because you have to do what’s right for your career.
“But I’ve played in the Championship for most of my career and I know I can still do a job for a club in that division if called upon.”
A return to Blackpool is unlikely, given that he struggled to produce for them in 2013/14, but it could be that a Millwall or Rotherham United take a punt on his services, with both sides short on goals.

A short-term deal would suit all parties and offer little risk to the club involved.
Chopra should have plenty of firepower left in him, having only recently celebrated his 31st birthday, and he will be determined to prove his worth back in familiar surroundings.

hated by most SAFC fans. Unlike Colback who give his all when at SAFC Chopra is a grunt.

yes, I agree CollieWobble gave us 100% and even deigned to score against 'his' team...

Chopra's 'deliberate miss' was the beginning of the end for him here...
