All ifs and buts I know but we know how we football fans enjoy a bit of speculation and guess work.

So my question is.

HOW WILL THE MANAGEMENT CHANGES AFFECT THE RELEGATION BATTLE?

If the speculation is true we will have Pullis at WBS, Pardew at Palace and Collocini at Newcastle.

And the new reigns start with a table that is very tight.

10Newcastle19-626
11Stoke19-225
12Everton19-221
13Aston Villa19-1121
14Sunderland19-1120
15QPR19-1318
16West Brom19-1017
17Hull19-816
18Crystal Palace19-1016
19Burnley19-1516
20Leicester19-1413
Despite good results for Leicester and Burnley at the weekend I still cant see either surviving so its one from 9 for me.

Everton you would expect to be fine but who is your favourite for that 3rd spot?

Hull for me, Bruce doing now at Hull what he has done at most clubs he has managed, good start then it all goes to ratshit and no nous to arrest a slide.

Slightly o/t watch out for Ipswich if we do stay up and they get promoted. They have a player by the
name of Daryl Murphy who has just scored his seventeenth goal of the season.

Could be what we are just missing.

I well remember Murphy's last few games with us, by then he was the boo boys favourite and looked like a rabbit in the headlights.

I'm not for one moment saying he would be a prolific premiership striker but he is a prime example of why booing players is never productive.

Going back to the '50s we had a lad called Ted Purden who was a left winger but used at centre forward and he was given the same treatment and it just about broke him. Picked on the left wing as a stop gap in a 6th round cup tie against Wolves (top team of the day) he was at the crowd's mercy on the touch line. Old Ken Chisholm told him to ignore the crowd and give his all, the lad eventually scored both our goals in a 2-0 win.

He was still treated mercilessly, which is reminiscent of the Rome Coliseum.

Yes thinking back was D Murphy worse than Altidore? Probably not which just shows one step forward and two back.

Who will go down well any of those in the bottom half of the table atm, which includes us. We could pull ourselves away from the mire if we could beat Hull at home and score against a 10 man Villa.

We do need to spend and I hope Poyet gets something like he wants as new personnel...would he walk if he does not, who knows?

I actually think his tactics are about right at present in that we are not usually shipping goals (await tomorrows result mind). However we are not creating enough/any chances and scoring, and for that we need more quality. The two £10m men, Johnson (flickers into life sometimes) and Rodwell has yet to produce a spark. So I see the reluctance of Short having spent £20m on creative midfielders and by and large produced duds to spend even more. I do not think he has a choice...and we just have to hope can find a gem in amongst the dross.
